The Culture Circle and its political function

This entry explores the proposition of the Culture Circle in Paulo Freire's work, defending the political character it has as a pedagogical space for the liberation of the oppressed, through the creation of a critical conscience that results in an action in the world. Therefore, the fundamental concepts of the Culture Circle in the Pedagogy of the Oppressed are exposed, and a practical example of the use of the Culture Circle, to demonstrate how it is not possible to think about the Culture Circle in a critical way, without starting from the dialectical notion of contradiction between the oppressors and the oppressed and the possibility of overcoming them, rejecting, therefore, the notion that the culture circle is just a learning tool, which ignores its political, ethical and social aspects.
