The idea of crisis or democratic degradation is, like the very notion of democracy, disputed theoretically and analytically. In this article, we discuss the actions implemented by Donald Trump's administration in the United States, focusing the discussion on the impacts that the speeches and policies adopted by the republican government had on the rights of historically marginalized groups, such as the black population, women, the migrant communities and the LGBTI+ population. We argue that the analysis of dedemocratization processes must consider not only procedural dimensions, but also the effects of these frameworks for the guarantee of subjects' rights. The reinforcement of inequalities, the increase in violence and social exclusion, and the dismantling of public policies are some of the scenarios observed, which demand broader reflections on democratic crises, as well as on the possibilities of struggle and resistance.
