Abstract

Antoine Berman became well known for his contribution to translation studies with his ’thirteen deformation tendencies’, recognized as his major work and published in 1985. This article sustains that in 1983, in the text Bildung et Bildungsroman, Berman found the fundamentals for his theory in the German Bildung. The cultural formation of mankind as the emergence to humankind and the translation as one of its principal agents, therefore, manifests its centrality for Berman ́s proposal of translation as a shelter of the far-away (l ́auberge du lointain).

Mathias Alberto Möller, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Unifesp

Bacharel em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade Católica de Brasília (2005). Licenciado em Filosofia pela Universidade de Brasília (2014) e Mestre em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp) na área de concentração: política, conhecimento e sociedade. Analista em Ciência e Tecnologia da Fundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) do Ministério da Educação. Atualmente requisitado pelo Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública em atuação na Coordenação-Geral do Comitê Nacional para os Refugiados. Tem experiência nas áreas de Gestão e Políticas Públicas, Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia, Agências e Ações de Fomento, Cooperação Internacional, Cooperação para o Desenvolvimento, Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Direitos Humanos e em Filosofia com ênfase em Filosofia Moderna e Política.
