The idea of autonomy is invariably linked to what we mean by modern art. It's been decades, however, that the concept of autonomy has lost its status and became suspect notion, seen as illusory, anachronistic, limiting, authoritarian, and so on. The present work aims to reflect about the consequences of the rupture with the idea of autonomy in contemporary art and literature in the face of the undeniable transformation that the system of production and circulation of ideas has undergone in the context of the society of the spectacle.
