Abstract

Published in 2017 by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, the book Translation, Ideology and Gender originates from a research project called TRACEgencsi (Traducción y Censura en la Representación del Género), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Education and conducted by a group of scholars from the universities of Cantabria and León. As a result of the project, the First International Conference "Translation, Ideology and Gender" was held in Santander, Spain, in 2015, with the aim of investigating in what ways and under what aspects gender representation can be filtered by power relations and ideology in the translation of scientific and literary texts. From the papers presented at the conference, added to the studies sent in response to the call for papers that succeeded it, nine articles were selected to compose the volume, resulting in a multidisciplinary and intercultural work, whose plurality of voices and perspectives has considerable potential to contribute to the understanding of translation as a phenomenon ”“ agent and product ”“ of culture.
