Imagination at Voice-Body Movement Integration Work

This article aims to discuss the importance of the work upon imagination in contemporary actor training. Imagination is presented here as a possible instrument to the dilution of the dichotomy between mind and body, which reflects itself in the "voice-body" dichotomy, present in many of the traditional approaches of the actor's training. Therefore, we bring a discussion on the nature of mind, based on philosophy of mind and neurosciences. From there, we take as a study case Grotowski’s vocal work, as presented in his lecture "The Voice". The article concludes by presenting notes on the use of these concepts in practice with actors-students.
