Abstract

This article presents a proposal for a comparative study between expository and investigative approaches in physics teaching. The objective of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of these two approaches in the students’ learning process and to identify the advantages and disadvantages of each one. The proposed methodology involves conducting a controlled experiment with two groups of students. One group will receive a traditional lecture where the teacher presents the theoretical concepts of physics in a linear manner, and the students passively receive the knowledge. Another group will be encouraged to participate in classes with an investigative approach, where they explore, question, and investigate physical phenomena through practical activities, experiments, and problem-solving. Throughout the study, quantitative and qualitative data will be collected through knowledge tests, student satisfaction surveys, and classroom observations. These data will be analyzed using statistical methods to determine significant differences between the two groups. It is expected that the results of this study will provide insights into the effectiveness of an exploratory approach compared to traditional physics classes. The study also aims to uncover student preferences regarding the teaching methods employed and to ascertain whether an exploratory approach contributes to a better understanding of physical concepts and motivation for learning.
