Abstract

The United Nations recognize agriculture as world heritage and agroecology as a means of upholding food sovereignty. It is important from the scientific point of view to know agroecosystems and their social actors. Agricultural technical assistance practices offered from Fundacion Caminos de Identidad (FUCAI) and Fundação Nacional do Índio (FUNAI) to farmers in the region of the Amazon Triple Frontier (Peru, Brazil and Colombia) were monitored and described through the observation-participant method. The interventions witnessed had a sociocultural approach and promoted community autonomy. It is suggested that technical assistance models with a socio-cultural perspective, sensitive to local realities and focused on promoting community autonomy, reflect positively not only in the communities where they are applied but also in all Amazonian territory.
