Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate of two pasture-based systems (PS) with elephant grass(EG) + ryegrass (RG) + spontaneous growing species (SGS) + white clover, for PS1 and EG + RG + SGS + forage peanut, for PS2. EG was planted in rows with a distance of 4m each one of them. In cool-season, ryegrass was sowed between rows of EG; white clover was sowed and forage peanut was preserved on respectively PS. Experimental design was completely randomized with two treatments (PS) two replications (paddocks) in complete split-plot time (grazing cycles). The initial herbage mass, botanical composition and stocking rate were evaluated. Samples were collect by collected by the hand-plucking method to analyze the crude protein (CP). Seven grazing cycles were performed during the experimental period (331 days). The mean values of dry matter of initial forage mass and stocking rate were 2968; 2905 kg/ha and 1.93; 1.65 UA/ha for respective PS. Higher values of CP of EG were observed in cool-season. Similar results on productivity and forage CP were observed between pastures.
