Abstract

In the present work was a study aimed at assessing the environmental sustainability of the watershedbasin of the Rio Step Stone Pato Branco PR-through sustainability indicators linked to the model pressure, state, response (PER). The methodological procedures included steps critical literature review, environmental assessment of the study area and the selection / proposal related parameters. After analyzing the factors of relevance to surface waters for efficient environmental management established 15 indicators were characterized according to the name, definition, importance, mechanism of measurement, unit of measure, frequency of collection and the PSR model framework. The indicators defined herein allow you to create and evaluate programs and policies aimed at reversing the current frame, with actions and practices aimed at environmental sustainability in the watersheds. Additionally, its arrangement may directly providing a better understanding of the relationships established between human pressures and the environment, the indicators developed in this paper will show their interrelationships
