Keywords:
Green manures, Agroecology, Soil, SustainabilityAbstract
This work was developed through of a review about green manures and the benefits with the adoption of this practical, with objective of disseminate the main scientific results in this area. It was verified that green manures provides significant improvements in the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of the soil. The chemical characteristics are benefited by nutrients release with the residues decomposition. This practical improves the physical characteristics favoring the soil aggregation, greater water retention and preventing the erosion. The biomass of green manures improves the biological characteristics of the soil in the measure where if it constitutes in food for these microorganisms. Moreover, used species as green manures are efficient in biological nitrogen fixation and can present characteristic of suppression of spontaneous plants. In this way, the green manure is a alternative to lower the input of external energy for farm, improving the sustainability system.
