Considering the gesture of rectification of the notion of subject by Michel Pêcheux, philosopher and founder of the French School of Discourse Analysis (AD), in this paper we analyze the importance of Lacanian psychoanalytic theory to better understand AD, given that this rectification is mainly supported by psychoanalysis. In this analysis, we are interested in what Pêcheux said in his book Les vérités de La Palice about the subject as well as the rectification on that matter. We are also interested in the notions of unconscious, real, and cause as elaborated by Lacan. We realized that, nowadays, after more than two decades from the first publication of the rectification (1983), AD in France, as conceived by Pêcheux, is practically abandoned. In Brazil, however, this subject is still strong though the rectification has not echoed among its followers. In both cases, particularities apart, we can identify a symptom of disavowal or silence of psychoanalysis.
