The text examines the trajectory of the geographer Amalia Inés Geraiges de Lemos. Firstly, we identify her contributions to Latin American Geography through her participation in the Postgraduate Program in Integration in Latin America at the University of São Paulo, in the Latin American Geography Meetings, and in the pursuit of cooperation with the geographies of other countries in the region, such asthe University of Buenos Aires. Secondly, we acknowledge her work at the Department of Human Geography and at the Graduate Program in Human Geography of the University of São Paulo, where she advocated for the development of a renewed and critical geography. Thirdly, we analyze her contributions to the understanding of the dynamics of Latin American metropolises, considering aspects such as mestizaje (racial and cultural mixing), poverty, and consumption
