The usage of "intrinsical value" concept in patrimonialization processes of objects, sites and cultural practices is questioned by researchers and theoreticians, because with it values are presented as immutable, intrinsical and detached from those who produce and value them; in spite of this, the concept remains as valid in authorized heritage discourse, Mexican laws, the academic scope and professional practice. The results obtained show that there is no stable system of values assigned to architectural objects that are part of the Mexican cultural heritage; the information gathered in two sequential contingent valuation exercises allows us to maintain that the authorized heritage discourse is added to other evaluative regularities - or domains of value - that circulate simultaneously among the population, and that the exposure of the supposed intrinsic value of the object can influence the social assignment of value.
