Migrant territorialities and gastronomic heritage. Venezuelans in the city of Bahía Blanca, Argentina

The cultural practices of migrants, such as gastronomy, are strategies of insertion that re-signify and reconvert the cultural capital they bring with them, being a mechanism of intercommunity relationship, while favoring the reconstruction of the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the territory. The objectives of this study are: analyze the contributions made by Venezuelan migration to the cultural diversity of the city of Bahía Blanca through its gastronomic heritage and to investigate the processes of valuing gastronomy as a strategy of community insertion. This is exploratory research given the scarce background on the subject, and a qualitative inquiry through the use of surveys and interviews with key actors, residents and members of the Venezuelan community in the city, which made it possible to account for the factors that influence the integration of gastronomy as part of the local cultural heritage.
