Heritage landscape, affection and symbolism. Experiences lived in the Historic Center of Icó, Ceará – Brazil

The interpretation of cultural landscapes linked to heritage from the perspective of cultural and humanistic geography proposes direct contact between human beings and the world around them as a means of constructing stories and meanings capable of expressing affection and symbolism. Thus, this study aims to understand the affective and symbolic relationships in a dialogical context between residents and their experiences with the cultural landscape of the Historic Center of Icó - Ceará. The results of this qualitative study were achieved from fieldwork carried out in the ambiance of the city's historic site, with the proposal of phenomenology to extract from the daily experiences of residents, memories and experiences capable of revealing feelings and meanings. The well-being of the inhabitants through the cultural landscape of Icó's heritage collection is revealed through the meaning, memories and symbolism constructed in the face of daily activities carried out, as well as the construction of value, through the affective perception of this space.
