Landscape and cultural heritage conservation. Experience of the historical centrality of Zacatecas, México

The objective was to present alternatives for conserving the landscape and cultural heritage through strategies for long-term benefit within the dynamics of historical centrality, based on active collaboration with local governments and the population. The methodology consisted of three phases: the first was a documentary review of heritage, landscape, and existing regulations; the second was the identification of the values to be conserved; and the last was the proposal of alternatives for the safeguarding of heritage. The contribution of this research was to raise awareness about heritage conservation that motivates more participatory urban planning for the development of historical centrality. The results show that, from social perception, the landscape's components are more recognizable by citizens due to their heritage and natural values.
