This research –generated from the perspective of tourism geography- focuses on knowing the touristic activity present in one of the most visited archeological sites in the world, Chichén Itzá, in southeastern Mexico. Starting from the Theory of Spatial Interaction and the Theory of the Central Place, the objective of this work is to measure the scope of the archaeological tourism that takes place in this emblematic case study. The application of both visitor surveys and netnography in a specialized website allowed collecting information that was processed through statistical analysis, to later be presented in cartographic form. It was concluded that archeological tourism in Chichén Itzá exceeds the national scale, largely driven by the influence of tourism promotion made nationally and internationally.
