The history of the struggle for the creation of the of Cafundão Agrarian Reform Settlement Project is linked to the historicity of Brazilian land concentration, which gives meaning to social movements for access to land. As well as, he particularly describes a struggle for the implementation of a specific Brazilian policy, in order to recognize the possession of this same land - which had been a place of life for generations - in the context of real estate and mining pressures that surround it. Uniquely, the Cafundão struggle portrays the political recognition of local knowledge (turning soapstone into artisanal production) as the main (re) productive link to the lands of the Cafundão, which ensures the survival of these families and nurtures the validation of their narratives of belonging. This article discusses the activation of territorial heritage through local knowledge.
