March to the West: National Agricultural Colonies 1941-1948

Abstract

This text is a transcript of the last presentation given by the beloved professor and doctoral candidate at PPG-FAU-UnB Lucas Felício Costa. In this presentation, given during the Mini-course of the Chronology of Urban Thought network, on September 24, 2021, Lucas presented aspects of his important research on new towns of Agricultural Colony in Brazil. Lucas graduated in Architecture and Urbanism at UEG (2013), had a Master in Urban Design at the Faculty of Visual Arts - UFG (2016), and joined the PhDProgram  in Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Brasília in 2019, under the supervision of Professor Ricardo Trevisan. Lucas was professor of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Visual Arts at UFG, where he was an articulated member of the extension project “Project Laboratory-Participatory project for housing expansion / improvement in Bairro Tempo Novo in Cidade de Goiás”. He worked at the “ZÉU-Zona de Experimentações Utopicas, Public Office of Architecture, Urbanism and Design projects at UFG” (2014-2016). He was researcher in the groups “Entropics” (UFG) and “Topos – Landscape, Project, Planning” (UnB). Lucas died on October 11, 2021, leaving his wife Fernanda and their little son Pedro. May Lucas' energy, enthusiasm, dedication to teaching, research and extension activities resonate in future productions, for those who, in some way, will continue the plots and weavings of his achievements.
