Abstract

This article aims to weave relationships between aspects of project design and construction techniques of the Cathedral of Brasilia. It is understood that many buildings made during the first years of the city results from a great convergence between design, representation and capacity of realization on the part of workers in the construction sites. Theoretically, “making” is chosen as the guiding term for this approach about the links between design culture and productive context. On a wide scale, "making" can contribute to reflections on the architectural modernity of the 1960s in the country; particularly, it refers to a exponent period of Oscar Niemeyer's trajectory. With that, this work situated in the set of studies that aim to broaden the understanding about the architect's design methods ”“ which extrapolates graphic aspects, covering material and constructive issues.
