Abstract

The need to produce more sustainable environments is growing every day. To meet this need, it is of the utmost importance that the design of new buildings be geared towards sustainability. Due to the great consumption of raw materials and high-energy consumption, the construction industry is the great generator of impacts. However, there are already tools to help build more sustainable buildings, such as the use of Building Modeling Information (BIM). In  this context, the objective of this work is to apply a BIM tool in the analysis of the life cycle of buildings, showing that it is possible to obtain an estimate of the amount of CO2 incorporated still in the design phase, making feasible the choice of materials and methods constructive changes since any changes made to the design within the software result in a real-time update of the CO2 emission calculations. For this, the design of a sustainable low-cost house was used. However, it is concluded that the software meets expectations, but the process of inserting data is still a bit laborious.
