As modificações no trabalho decorrentes das estratégias de reestruturação do modo de produção capitalista em face à crise estrutural e, particularmente, à crise enfrentada desde os anos 1970 até os dias atuais demandam ajustes de superfície em vários planos - o econômico, o político, o social e o cultural -, trazendo graves consequências sociais, das quais destacamos a crise do trabalho abstrato, que tem como manifestações o desemprego estrutural e a precarização do trabalho.
