Abstract

This article presents readers with a parallelistic relationship between the terms "sign of Libra" and "Libras", the Brazilian Sign Language. The work aims to discuss the classification of Libras based on linguistic categories regarding acquisition/learning, offering elucidative examples throughout the discussion. It is possible to notice that the classification does not differ in comparison with oral languages, however there are exceptions that will be discussed, such as the case of Mother Tongue and First Language. Studies related to sign languages are recent compared to other oral languages and require further research in the area. In this way, starting from a topic of popular culture, Astrology, the discussion about categories for the classification of languages, in particular, Libras, is established.

Mr. Shimabuko, Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso

Graduated in Biological Sciences and degree Portuguese Language and Spanish Language and Respective Literature,
Specialist in Brazilian Sign Language Libras and Translation and Interpretation in Libras; Master degree in
Natural Science Teaching (PPGECN/UFMT) with research focused on the inclusion of deaf students; It has
PROLIBRAS (MEC) and Atesto (CAS-MT) proficiency certifications. He is currently a doctoral student in the
Postgraduate Program in Language Studies (PPGEL/UFMT) under Linguistics; Member of the research group
Language: Teaching, Interaction and Learning-LEIA; Professor at the Department of Letters at UFMT in the
undergraduate course in Letters Libras Licentiate; Interpreter of Libras in the educational field in higher
education and in the artistic area in general; It is dedicated to research aimed at linguistic studies of
the Brazilian Sign Language and the promotion of accessibility related to art and inclusion of the Deaf.

Ms. Borges, Federal Mato Grosso University

Possui graduação em Letras pela Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (1999) e mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (2005) e doutorado em Linguística pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Atualmente é Coordenadora de Línguas Aplicadas à Internacionalização (UFMT), professora do Programa de Pós-graduação em Estudos da Linguagem (UFMT) e líder do Grupo de Pesquisa em Linguagem, Ensino, Interação e Aprendizagem (LEIA). É coordenadora pedagógica e professora dos cursos de Português para Estrangeiros e do exame CELPE-BRAS da UFMT. Também participa como coordenadora da área de Português para Estrangeiros da Rede Andifes-IsF. Tem experiência na área de Linguística, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Português como língua estrangeira/segunda/adicional; Formação de Professores de Português como língua estrangeira/adicional, Letramentos, Didática do ensino-aprendizagem de línguas.
