Abstract

This text intends to situate The Order of Things (OT) in the Foucault’s critical thought. Thus three axes of analysis are presented. In the contextual axis is showed two tendencies of French philosophical tradition with which the book articulates. In the thematic axis is evaluated the critique of both phenomenology and structuralism in OT. In the critical axis is considered that Foucault attributes a limit-experience to the critique. In this sense, OT proposes a critical thought insofar as it predicates a diagnostic of our time that expresses the philosophical ethos of actuality: to think about ourselves again.
