Crítica cultural y crítica ideológica en la ensayística temprana de Siegfried Kracauer (1919-1933)

The article analyzes the concept of critique in the early essays of Siegfried Kracauer (Frankfurt aM 1889-New York 1966). It engages with postmodern interpretations of his work and proposes the thesis that Kracauer is part of a tradition of thought that extends from Marx to Lukács and is characterized not only by recognizing the objective nature of all being but also by addressing the figures of consciousness as expressions of overarching socio-economic processes and by conceiving the alienations inherent in the market society as a necessary stage in the formation of humanity. First, the 'extraterritorial' constitution of Kracauer is analyzed within the framework of a totalizing conception of modernity; second, a substantial epistemological shift is highlighted, influenced by the reading of History and Class Consciousness in the mid-1920s. Third, the essayistic work that follows this turn is characterized in terms of ideological critique and a critique of the socio-economic processes.
