Entre o colonial e pós-colonial: o diálogo entre os discursos de O olho de Herzog, de João Paulo Borges Coelho

Abstract

The Eye of Hertzog(O Olho de Hertzog), a novel by João Paulo Borges Coelho, searches for the roots of the contemporary Mozambican cultural identity in the beginning of the 20th century,revealing how the historical conscience is one of the most important factors in the process of national and cultural identity formation. The aim of the present article is to analyse the (re)use of colonial discourse and the dialogue between colonial and postcolonial discourses, which is established along the novel's two parallel narratives.
