This article presents an analysis of the admitted student’s profiles in higher education from affirmative action, the demands to the students’ welfare services and the social worker’s interventions. It discusses the criteria of the quota systems considering the student’s social and economic characteristics which access higher education in two Brazilian Federal Universities. It recognizes inequalities in the access to this level of education imposed to the afro-descendent’ population (SANTOS; SOUZA; SASAKI, 2013). The research field was oriented by a quantitative and qualitative approach. Bibliographic and documental research was carried out. Besides, data were collected by on-line inquiry by questionnaire applied to students granted with scholarships who entered university by both through the quota and by general system. Even though differences was not registered in admitted student’s profiles considering criteria set by affirmative action, there is a diversity of subjective demands which students’ social services and Social Work action has not already attended.
