Conversation with vocal coach Rafael Barreiros about the “Speech-Level Singing” and “Institute for Vocal Advancement” methods

The vocal trainer and singing teacher Rafael Barreiros based in the city of São Paulo, received me in his private studio, on June 22, 2016. At the time, he gave me this interview, which was part of my master's research entitled “A Study on the Vocal Development of Actors and Actresses - The Mix Voice”, under the guidance of PhD. Suely Master. In it, we seek to structure concepts and information about the two contemporary methods of vocal training based on the concept of mixed voice, known as Speech Level Singing and Institute for Vocal Advancement. Through the material obtained, we were able to discuss different concepts approached by the referred methods, looking for possible interlocutions with the traditional singing literature.
