Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the production of american lettuce, Lucy Brown, through the fertilization of animal and vegetable residues. The experimental design was randomized blocks with four replications. The treatments were: tanned cattle manure, fresh bovine manure, organic compost, leucine shoots and control. The variables evaluated were: total fresh mass, commercial fresh mass, dry discard mass, root lengths, total root fresh mass and the total root dry mass. Organic compost, fresh manure, tanned manure and leucine, when not incorporated, reduced the production of commercial fresh mass. Fertilizers did not influence the production of total fresh mass, disposable fresh mass, total dry mass, commercial dry mass, disposable dry mass, fresh mass and total root mass. TFertilizers in mulching and\or incorporatedinto soil did not influence the production and length of the lettuce roots.
