Socioeconomic and environmental evaluation of the deterioration of the Saudade stream microbasin, tributary of the Uberaba river

Abstract

The integrated handling of an hydrographic basin aims the environmental recovery of those units, looking for the balance of the ecosystems, seeking the sustainability and use of the renewable natural resources. With the objective of evaluating the socioeconomic and environmental deterioration in the Saudade stream microbasin, and adapted questionnaires of CIDIAT was applied to 75% of the properties in the area of study, where socioeconomic and environmental aspects. The calculated indexes of social, economical, technological, socioeconomic and environmental deterioration were 47,4; 82,6; 55,9; 53,5 and 20,8%, respectively. The Saudade stream microbasin is in high deterioration process, with more than 50% of the area compromised. The deterioration in the economic factor of 82.6% reflects the precarious conditions of life of the region inhabitants. The value of environmental deterioration of 20.8% does not reflect what was observed in the field visits.
