Abstract

The objective of this study was to expand knowledge of plant families and species with potential for use in the Cerrado region of Dourados, thus providing, grants for conservation and management ofthe remnants still exist in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The data were obtained from the transect walk, techniques used in rapid diagnosis and accompanied by a local informant. We collected all the material fertile plants indicated by the dwellers. In the ethnobotanical inventory were sampled 129 species, belonging to 107 genera, distributed in 48 families. The plant species sampled were included in various categories of use, such as medical, food, firewood, construction, posts, fences, furniture and cable tools. The category of use was the most representative medical, followed- if the species for food use, for construction, firewood, fence posts, furniture, tools and cable fence.
