Scientist is the mother: social networks and memory effects on the scientific work of the woman and mother

Abstract

For this article, we aim to discursively analyze Instagram posts and verify how these discourses produce meaning around the figure of the woman scientist and mother. We will be theoretically and methodologically based on the propositions of Pêcheux (2007) and Davallon (2007) on discursive memory and Foucault (2014) on the issues that build a device. How is the representation of the woman scientist mother seen in the circulation of posts that defend the valorization of the academic work of women? it is the question that guides our article that, in the face of the analyses, observes the construction of regularity and the resumption of pre-constructed ones around what we understand as stereotypes of scientific work; however, we also observe a game of forces on discursive memory under the shock of the event when there is the irruption of singular events that escape from the proposition of a certain stereotype of the mother scientist of the STEM areas.
