The 10th anniversary of the Quota Law in Journalistic Discourse: What does the Folha think?

In this paper I present the result of an investigation into the discourse on the Quota Law on the Folha de S. Paulo webjournal in 2022, when the law turned 10. Understanding this as an important social issue, this study is anchored in Critical Discourse Studies, more specifically in the sociocognitive approach proposed by Teun van Dijk (1995, 2009, 2021 among others), although it also trigger some of the analytical categories proposed by Norman Fairclough (2003): representation of social actors, evaluation and metaphor. For a resumption of the history and importance of the Quota Law I use mainly the work of Vaz (2022). Finally, I present the results of the selected corpus analysis followed by some considerations about the investigation undertaken here.
