Abstract

This work aims at studying Martin Heidegger's contri-butions regarding the nature of the work of art, as expressed, mainly, in his essay entitled "The origin of the work of art". It also analyzes the thinker's contributions for the theory of art. The main theoretical line discussed is Heidegger's proposal of a way of understanding art beyond the metaphysical con-vention for interpreting the world and of the schemes of the Aristotelian tradition of explaining art. Key-words: work of art; metaphisical tradition; Heidegger
