Abstract

The siphonic drainage system has been used in industrial and commercial buildings, providing more effective roof drainage. Furthermore, its incorporation into the architectural design allows for space optimization, facilitating renovations, retrofits, or expansions, with minimal interventions as it is a more compact system. This article aims to analyze the rainwater drainage system using the siphonic method and its relationship with architecture, based on an analysis of the bibliography. To this end, several databases were analyzed through systemic mapping, focusing on the technical aspects of sizing and applications of the siphonic system. The study concluded that, although the system offers many advantages, it is necessary to integrate it into architectural planning and develop a specific Brazilian standard to maximize its performance. In addition to the lack of a standard, there is a scarcity of studies focused on the national market, with only 11% of research covering Brazil. In these studies, the conclusion is that there is a need to deepen knowledge about materials and rainfall levels for an appropriate system choice.
