Abstract

There are several factors that interfere with the behavior of natural light and can cause visual discomfort inside the surroundings. Among them are those related to the built environment such as verticalization, geometry and reflectance of facades. In this context, the present study addresses the influence of two parameters: the angle formed between the facades of a study room and the obstruction and the reflectance of the external surface of the obstruction in the performance of natural lighting in buildings in the city of Maceió. Using the TropLux 7 computational simulation tool, hypothetical scenarios are designed by varying the angle between the obstruction facade and the study room at 0°, 22.5° and 45° and the external surface reflectance of the obstruction at 0.5 and 0.8 for a quantitative study to analyze the influence of this environment on the mean annual luminance and uniformity within the room. The processed illuminances follow the standards required by NBR-CIE-8995. The results obtained from the parametric and statistical analysis of the data indicate that the variation of the angle does not provide a representative increase in the illuminance and the uniformity, the same is observed with the variation of the reflectance of the external surface of the obstruction. Such facts can be explained by the sky-vision factor that has remained constant.
