Abstract

Nowadays, the building design in essence may consider a sustainable approach, and mainly in schools architecture conception. Considering this point, the aim of this paper is to consider environmental quality and the challenge for reconciling
multiple environmental criteria in the architectural project design for building schools, especially at the Public Elementary Schools in Rio de Janeiro city. It is emphasize the indoor environmental comfort. From the school building analyzed case are recognized formal languages in which predominate standard reference models instead of solutions solving environmental constraints. Along the country this situation is the same as that from Rio de Janeiro city. Rather, the models are repeated bringing with them the unresolved issues. Also, in addition, is presented some multicriteria approach methods to aid the architectural conception, and examined a specific method, the GPAS Method to be applied in architectural school designs
