Abstract

In this article we deal with the roles that a teacher can play in the foreign language classroom and how they relate to the (grammatical and / or communicative)approaches of language teaching, which are commonly studied in Applied Linguistics. We start with the conceptualization of the term 'role' and its relationship with theoretical approaches to the teaching and learning process arising from psychology and applied to education. Finally, we present a description of the types of roles that can be identified and recognized in your teaching practice, considering a given teaching approach and the method (s) adopted by him / her.
