The objective of this article is to evaluate, based on a fragmentary reading of Sartre’s work in Brazil - the Araraquara conference, the presence of the renowned French philosopher among us and some of his theses on Marxism and existentialism, themes intensely researched by him and quite appropriate to the context of the time. To this end, the work will be delimited into three points: the introduction aims to evaluate a little of the philosophical and political context of the time, as well as situate the role of professor Fausto Castilho, our honoree, as host of Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir during their stay for our country. The second point of the work will evaluate some of the theses defended by the author on existentialism and Marxism, present in the text of the conferences.
