This paper aims at translating and presenting fragments 19 and 20 of Hegel´s Jena project of system, written between 1803 and 1804. The first task is to contextualize the fragment, not only in relation to Hegel’s earlier and later writings, but also within the ensemble of fragments, as well as in relation to Habermas’ interpretation of Hegel’s position as a way into the reconstruction of historical materialism. The starting point is the wellknown thesis of a peculiar systematic structure, according to which Hegel´s conception of spirit is constituted by a non-reducionist dialectic of theoretical and practical consciousness, comprehended, respectively, as language and labor. Finally, I propose a translation of the fragments into portuguese.
