From Annemarie Schwarzenbach to Melania Mazzucco: the power of the word
Keywords:
Mazzucco. Schwarzenbach. travel. woman.Abstract
The life of young Swiss writer Annemarie Schwarzenbach and her journey through the world in search of her identity is the motto of the biographical novel Lei così amata, from Italian novelist Melania Mazzucco. In this paper, we focus on the speech intertwining of those two writers’ voices, separated in time by over six decades. Both authors demonstrate, through their narrative, a passion for writing and the transformative power of
both real and metaphoric travels, undertaken by women in their struggle for a place in the world.
