In 2021, an irreverent mix of visual culture and translation was concocted by a new scholarly publication launched in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic: the Revista Lucía. The journal is expected to come out annually and was conceived and co-edited by Fernanda Grigolin, PhD in Visual Arts from Unicamp, and Daniella Avelaneda Origuela, PhD in Translation Studies from USP. Lucía comes to fill the gap concerning authors from Latin American countries and the global south in feminist journals - and it also features contributions by transnational collectives. It is also interesting to note the non-institutionalization of the journal, and its flexible proposal of being independent both from academia and the publishing market. This review focuses on the first issue of the Revista Lucía: the debut edition provides the opportunity of reflecting on the editing processes, the topics addressed in articles, essays, dossiers, and on the discussions that ensue, in addition to the geographical locations and the disciplinary background of the authors, all of which exhibit diverse epistemological affiliations.
