Abstract

Starting from a description of how I was received in the indigenous land by my hosts, I try to show how the kinship relations between the Manxineru who live in the Mamoadate Indigenous Land, on the upper Iaco River, a tributary of the Purus River, are structured. The ideas of "joking" and "respect" are recruited as key concepts for the thematization of these relationships, which are also determined as relations of exchange or sharing. Rather than the composition of social groups and a sociology, these modes of relationship correspond to something as a "theory of action," or, more precisely, a “theory of play”.
