Abstract

This article critically assesses the reception policies for asylum seekers in Greece. We will examine the activity of international / intergovernmental organizations that were in charge of managing refugee flows during the Post-WWII period and the characteristics of the European Union (EU) immigration policy. It is based on the premise that the reception of refugees by the EU over time does not contribute to their social integration; on the contrary, inadequate reception conditions serve to repel and dissuade them from entering European territory. The reception policies implemented in Greece are examples of these guidelines and objectives.
