Sustentabilidade e escolhas alimentares: por uma biografia ambiental dos alimentos

Este ensaio tem o objetivo de discutir as características do sistema agroalimentar contemporâneo, bem como se propõe a refletir sobre o uso da abordagem biográfica como referencial teórico para analisar relações entre os alimentos e o ambiente. O método de pesquisa utilizado foi de revisão bibliográfica e consulta a dados secundários. Os resultados evidenciam que a globalização do sistema agroalimentar contribui para a ruptura entre a produção e o consumo de alimentos, o que, consequentemente, influencia o ambiente. Porém, iniciativas alternativas ao modelo dominante de acesso aos alimentos têm potencial de (re)conectar produtores e consumidores e viabilizar informações mais precisas sobre as diversas fases da vida dos produtos alimentícios. Com base nas evidências sistematizadas neste ensaio, conclui-se que o uso da abordagem biográfica com ênfase no aspecto ambiental pode contribuir para (re)descobrir relações entre produção, sustentabilidade e escolhas alimentares.
