Taking Charge
Validity Evidence for the Brazilian Version of the Scale
Keywords:
Validation, Proactivity, Taking chargeAbstract
This research aimed to explore validity evidence of the Brazilian version of the taking charge scale. A sample
of 197 Brazilian workers was used and data were collected via an online survey. The measurement model was tested, as well as the relationship with variables of the nomological network and with the proactive behavior called voice. The data suggests that the construct is composed by one factor and can be reliably measured in Brazil using eight of the ten items of the original scale. The confirmation of the expected correlations with the nomological net variables suggests construct validity, as well as the test of the hypothesized model that includes the other proactive behavior, which showed evidence of concurrent and discriminant validity
