Abstract

Introduction: In view of the literature, there is still a correlation between socioeconomic inequities and the increased risk for mental health impairments, which means that, therefore, individuals in vulnerability or without the possibility of isolation are more exposed to the risk of infection by SARS-CoV - 2 and, in addition to this, to several other determinants that directly impact the perception of individuals about the pandemic, such as food and financial instability, unemployment, lack of internet access and school commitment of children, youth and adults. Objective: To apprehend the perception of individuals who experienced the social distance promoted by the pandemic of COVID-19 and its repercussions on social life. Methodology: This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, carried out with individuals who experienced social isolation due to the pandemic of COVID-19. The intentional and consecutive sample consisted of individuals over 18 years of age who live in the Federal District, in which they were submitted to the filling out of a questionnaire composed, then, by 7 sociodemographic questions and 1 question about living during the pandemic, in which age was investigated. of the participants, sex, individual income, housing, social isolation was maintained in addition to how the individual experienced or experiences social isolation during the pandemic. Results: Among the 31 individuals who participated in the study, there was a predominance of females (67.7%). As for age and housing, most are between 18 and 25 years old (51.60%) and live with a father / mother (47.7%). Regarding education and individual income, it is clear that most have completed higher education (45.2%) and income greater than 5 minimum wages (29.0%). In their narratives, feelings of concern and anxiety that prevail over the others are evident. There are also questions about the perception of time, reports of family life and social interaction, reports of daily life with consequent changes resulting from the pandemic, and the simple presence of positivist feelings. Conclusion: It was noticeable in the face of the study an increase in the negative psychological effects of anxiety, stress, insomnia, irritability and lowering of mood, during the experience in social isolation, mainly in the Home Office modality.
