Resumen

Brazil is considered the largest producer of organic soybean in the world and Paraná is the largest producer state. The crop has been an alternative to achieve economic feasibility in small farms, especially in the Southwest of Paraná. The demand for research about alternatives to pesticides hasincreased due to market and environment concerns. This study had the objective to evaluate the effect of plant extracts on the production of phytoalexins and make correlations with diseases and soybean yield. The work was carried out in vitro and in vivo at UTFPR Campus Dois Vizinhos. It was evaluated commercial formulations of garlic (Allium sativum- 10 mL.L-1), neem (Azadirachta indica- 5 mL.L-1) and timbó (Derris spp. - 6 mL.L-1). The plant extracts of garlic and neem induced the production of phytoalexins glyceolin in cotyledons of soybean and reduced the incidence of powdery mildew caused by Microsphaera diffusa.
