The Importance of Land in the Contemporary World: Editorial - Agrarian Reform within the Global Agroecological Agenda

The editorial presents the issues that permeate the debate on the agrarian question, in relation to national and international debates that have taken place since December 2024, when the Food Security Council (FSC) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) approved the proposal to hold an international conference on agrarian reform. Led by Colombia, under President Gustavo Petro (2022-2026), and supported by Brazil, under President Lula (2023-2026), the proposal to hold a second International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (CIRARD+20) was approved.
